Question re: 'Apply for all types of work'
JSA claimant, long term unemployed. Usually apply Admin/Customer Service roles. Now I've been told to apply for all the jobs I can do incl warehouse, retail etc. Not far off 60 so working in some warehouse jobs till 67 might clearly be difficult.
Any info, links or advice on how you handled this kind of situation would be much appreciated.

Re: Question re: 'Apply for all types of work'
Hello MT and welcome to the Forum. Nice to see young members joining.
You are quite right. After a specific period of time you are required to start looking outside your area of expertise for jobs you are capable of doing.
Most warehouse jobs require you to be able to drive a fork truck, else have the physique to hump stuff around all day, or night. If you don’t qualify for the job on those grounds then it is clear that it’s not the job for you.
If your coach insists on seeing warehouse jobs on your jobsearch, humour them. More than likely your age will work against you anyway and you will not be picked.
Retail, like shop or supermarket work, can be fairly casual or steady in many cases., especially if you pick a shop that only has a few customers a day. Headstone shops are dead quiet.

Thanks for the reply CC - hopefully you're right, at least as far as the worst jobs go anyway.

Nice one Jobberpw , you have to be careful with these people at the JCP thou. Like the old joke: "I applied for a job at the bakery, but it wasn't enough dough". You are likey to get a red card to say the least....
