Have you looked on the PCS website? At a guess, if a 100,000 civil servants are striking I suspect it will include DWP staff, unless your WC is a scab.

The government has announced via a written ministerial statement that public service pensions, including the Civil Service Pension, will increase by 10.1% from April 2023.

I read that Jnr Doctors are going to have strike action. Just wondering if the JCP Roach's, will be sent in to cover during the dispute? As plenty of them seem to know more about medical/health issues than the Doctors (md) do! 🤪

After reading this article on 'Poor side of Life'. About 'Job Roach' to make decisions for disabled people' .
I can only apologise to the forum, as I posted about Roaches being deployed to cover the striking medical staff, as a joke ... Seems like a 'white paper' is to be constructed on this matter. If it does go ahead and Roaches to make decisions on people's health conditions, with no medical training. A 2x week course run by the DWP, isn't medical trainied to me . After this what next the 'Restart' scheme provider's, to take over the mantle, and prescribe medical advice ...

Whatever next? All claimants deregistered from their GP and instead have a WC responsible for their health needs??

You can see my dystopian-nightmare.... Work Roach', to decide on the severity of a claimant's health condition. JCP staff to be stationed in health/medical centres. Is it me or is there a trend here....

Have you ever thought of going into the consultancy business, Pintel? You could have made yourself a tidy sum selling your vision of WCs replacing qualified, professional, registered healthcare professionals to the government.

Besides, how long before the W-Roach position/role is replaced by an AI algorithm ....
Talking about communicating with a Robot. It reminds me of the scene in 'Elysium' where Matt Damon talks to the Robot. Reminds me of some Roach' I have had in the past

On a sidetrack here, I keep hearing about national shortages of qualified staff in various sectors. I just wondered what employment-sectors are in abundance in the UK..?

Re: PCS union to strike in feb 2023
When you think about what a WC actually does (when they're not busy saving lives by doubling up as doctors and nurses), AI could probably do their job now. When everyone is on UC there is no need for a claimants signature and claims could be theoretically managed digitally by a JCP anywhere in the country, there is probably even less need for them. But there is value to the DWP of having claimants in physical offices for the harassment value. Plus, does anyone really believe the DWP could procure a decent, functioning AI system?
I wonder if the future WC will have the jobsearch function of their role replaced by AI, and instead concentrate purely on helping/harassing to overcome their "barriers". The mooted idea of getting WCs to do health assessments does fit with that future views. Or providers will finally get their wish and take on even more JCP functions. Some of the Restart stuff, like provider job portals and micro managing participants lives suggest they are ramping up their efforts to replace JCPs.

As I've been told in many a workplace, when I had nothing better to do... A job creation scheme if you will...
Or as you also mentioned the WC's roles, are going to be 'out sourced' to Provider's. In a privatisation manner, due to underperforming or lack of expertise, as they have drifted away from their main purpose?
It does seem to me like the goalposts are being moved. So the WC's are doing themselves out of a job?

So what do we do about this then?
You know I was more action than words in the past but you and times have changed. Nothing gets done anymore!
I have applied for 4 WC jobs now, through my Jobcentre and work roaches, Just to become a fully underpaid little diseased work roach who understands our side?!!!!! and be a whistleblower!
I can do that now!
How would you like me to be your undercover sanction, Work Roach??? With you?
They failed me every time. It was like they did not want me to be a work roach. It was like they knew I knew too much
That is the same complaint now and always was.
The sniffling, obnoxious, little, disease that they are with a superiority complex.
Would/could be me? I would be on our side.
gizza job
I can do this. Yes/No, I could not!
Obviously, I would have to sanction you because that would be the only way to contact you, to relay the changes in DWP Jobcentre gossip each week. How else would I grass on The DWP?
Fuck me. !!!!!!!!
What if We/you all tried together to get me a job as a work roach within the DWP?
I'm totally over qualified. Please help.

Politics and politicians are the problem. We need genuine political reform and nothing will change in that regard because apathy is rife in this country. Even Labour have gone back on their no-sanction promise. Basically, we're all fucked.
