2024 Cost of Living Payment

I know we are all excitedly looking forward to our Autumn Cost of Living Payment, due to be paid from tomorrow until November 19th.

According to what passess for the media these days, the DWP has announced that the final £299 installment will be paid before March 20 2024.

Based on previous CoL payments the qualifying dates usually end 5/6 weeks before they start paying people. On that basis, make sure you're not on the wrong end of some stupid sanction January/February time and therefore not eligible.

I shall now await my bank balance swelling by £300. By my reckoning, including the imminent CoL payment, I've so far received £1251. My WC got £1500 in one lump sum. I will not be satisfied until I've received the final £299.

I received my autumn payment yesterday, the first day the text message I got said I would.  It was promptly paid to my energy provider, in order for them to have their Christmas party at our expense.

I didn't bother to check yet .

I thought that was exactly what you are supposed to do with these Stimulus package. To put money into the economy. And not in some Off shore tax haven. So not being 'Economically Inactive', like these tax evaders ...

I'm playing it cool & waiting for my bank to notify my gruel money has been deposited in my account. Of course, in the days before bank apps I would have been at the cash machine checking every day in a most uncool fashion.

I've heard of some just squandering it away at the pub while the landlord is quite smug at the sudden, albeit temporary, boost in his takings.

Anyway, I can ill afford not to put it towards my energy bill. I'm sure my energy company will be happy to invest the small bloat in credit into whatever investments they might claim are good for us and the environment.

The final CoL payment will be paid between February 6 - 22 2024. As they only announce payment dates after the qualifying period has passed, if you are not currently sanctioned you are eligible.
