Cost Of Living Payment dates 2023

I’ve just seen they’ve announced the dates for this years payments, as follows:

When you’ll be paid
If you’re entitled, you will get:

£301 paid between 25 April 2023 and 17 May 2023 for most people on DWP benefits
£300 paid during autumn 2023 for most people
£299 paid during spring 2024 for most people

It's says that another 'Cost of Living' payment, is shortly going to be arriving, in 2023?
Has anyone got a letter about this windfall yet...

A letter? Your nerves must be better than mine if you don't mind DWP Envelopes of Doom through your letterbox, or does your butler attend to your post? I've never had a letter about any of the CoL payments. The jobcentre did have a pile of leaflets about them last year though. I think I may have received a text telling me our generous government was throwing money at us peasants.

I'm not sure about 'Nerves of Steel' 🥴...#Ignatius. The dwp Brown envelope, still sends a shivers down my timbers🪵.
I had a letter telling this old sea dog, there was a payment waiting in the treasure chest. However, in the back of my mind says this QE( quantitative easing), can't be too good for the £ in the long term‍. Printing money is rarely a good plan. As you said 'throwing money at us peasants'... Still its better than Marie's 'Let them eat Cake'....

While we are talking about the DWPs 'Envelope of Evil' ( the brown style). I hear the author Stephen King, next book is going to be about a person whom becomes possessed by Demon's, after opening the 'envelope of evil'.... Sure gives me the Willie's , I can tell you!

My last few Envelopes of Doom have been white and give off a vibe of innocence, until I look on the back and see that familiar Belfast return address. Do you think the DWP did some research which showed white envelopes would lull workshy claimants into a false sense of security? Envelope coulour as a novel form of psychological ops? You must have missed it but the DWP actually issued a press release about moving to white envelopes.

On the subject of the DWP and paper colour choice, does anyone know why when the Mothership sends a letter it is always on pristine white paper, yet anything they print out for you in the office is on paper that looks like someone put something dark in a white wash? When I did jobclub WCs always commented on how printing out a CV would be pointless because of the paper colour.

Upon Envelopes, I have often pondered upon the DWPs, choice of stationery .. At first I thought the 'off white' shade/recycled effect. Was a cost cutting exercise?

Then knowing the DWP , it could be a Psy-0ps game the Dole likes to play? As to show it is an original letter, and not a photocopy as a copy would normally show pure white on the other side ( unless you made a double sided copy).

Or the piere de la resistance, that it is to remind the Claimant, that they are not worthy of pure white unsoiled paper. So have letters printed on cardboard/wood chip paper, second class stationery?

I did not know that #Ignatius. Does anyone know the exact total amount all of the 'Cost of Living' payments, made by the Treasury, within the UK?

Thus far the WC have had more CoL cash than us scroungers!!

I don't know the total cost of the CoL payments I'm afraid.

I know it's like Halloween has come early this year...🤪...

Yet the morbid side of me would still like to know!??? How much this 'Opiate of the Masses" has come to??. No doubt we will find out on a busy news day, to bury the bad news???

According to the House of Commons Library, CoL payments in 2022 cost an estimated 8.8 billion pounds. The 2023/2024 cost is estimated at 11 billion pounds. These figures don't include help with energy bills and the like.
