It was my understanding that it was the PIP assessor who called the claimant a lying bitch, not the DWP (although they let it stand which makes them culpable), yet that fact seems to be being buried? I can't help but wonder why the Guardian are using certain language to describe that person:

The offending passage was contained in the DWP’s submission to her PIP appeal tribunal. In it, an official questioned whether she was genuinely entitled to a carer’s allowance, a benefit for people who care for another person for at least 35 hours a week.

An "official"? Not an employee hired by a private contractor then? If it was a DWP employee then surely that would be clear?
