Re: Recording meetings in private rooms at JCP
This is what use. Well, very similar, I bought mine several years ago. For a fiver with memory card it's great deal.
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/U-Disk-Voice-Audio-Sound-Recorder-MP3-Portable-Micro-Dictaphone-Recording/401688332018?hash=item5d867d86f2mEo6crLI1JU9HHOVdDpmemw
It fits easily and unobtrusively into a tee-shirt pocket for example, or hung around the neck on a piece of string etc. Just don't use a chain as it creates noise when you move. The recordings are very clear. The advantage of having it in a pocket is that it is always with you if you have to move and you're not having to fumble with a phone etc. Very long battery life and recording length, 10 hours on one charge on mine.

Re: Recording meetings in private rooms at JCP
I am not sure if this FOI is somewhere else on this site about recording meetings (dated: 9 March 2016)?
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/316225/response/779882/attach/html/3/FOI%20Response%20554.pdf.html

One more point if you need to present this evidence that has been recorded, does anyone know how you should do this to the dwp. Do you send them a copy of the recording in digital 'mp3' etc format. Or do you need to make a transcription of the meeting onto paper?

you need to make a transcription of the meeting onto paper
keeps them less aware of a recording device
only if you go into a proper court is where you use both references transcript and recording

The only time I've had to provide a recording was when I made a complaint to ICE and I just sent them a CD with the recording on it. I didn't provide a transcript.
