General discussion and lounge

I am just wondering if 'General discussion' should be given a new name to reflect what it is actually about. The text underneath 'general discussion' tends to suggest that it is the part of the site where new and old members can ask a question/ask for help with something.

I notice that people post discussion topics in the 'general discussion'. Nothing wrong with that at all, but it then leaves 'lounge' as a bit redundant.

I suggest that we either amalgamate 'general discussion' and 'lounge' into all one section, or we keep them separate as they are now and rename 'general discussion' as 'help with queries' or some title along those lines, to suggest it is the part of the site where anyone can ask for help.

Perhaps some postings could go in a section called "Benefits News" or some sort of media section?

I think having a MEDIA section instead of the LOUNGE would be helpful.

The 'general discussion' section could be entitled CHAT and if a 'hot topic' developed, a sticky could be created or the topic moved to the relevant section.

Alternatively, a MEDIA & DISCUSSION section.

I think there should be a sub section named 'Schemes for young people (18-24 year olds)' within the main heading of SCHEMES, PROGRAMMES & COURSES.

Perhaps a WELCOME TO BENEFIT ADVICE section for people joining maybe beneficial too.

Yes I think we need a MEDIA/ARTS section.

I like LOUNGE for thinking out loud topics.

I think GENERAL DISCUSSION should remain the advice part of the site because looking for help and advice is what drives traffic to this site. Perhaps it should be renamed ADVICE.

Thanks so much for the modifications to the forum thus far.

It is impossible for any individual/organsiation to know everything in regards to the law.

When people visit any site they are are seeking the best and most accurate information as well as professionalism.  We must all be aware that the information provided here and elsewhere can impact on individual lives/livelihoods.  

I am uncertain if any of us are qualified and/or insured to give professional advice at this time.  We can only provide information based on FOI requests and personal experience as well as successful legal submissions.  

What we decide to call each section of the forum is a matter of preference, it is only the users who can determine the effectiveness of the site layout as well as the information provided.
