Flu Vaccine Empty Flu Vaccine

I read earlier in the year that the flu vaccination was being extended to the 60-64 age group.

Most comprehensive flu programme in UK history will be rolled out this winter

I have only ever had flu once, so rather leaving things to chance I decided a flu vaccine maybe beneficial now.  If I catch (slim risk) Flu and COVID-19 at the same time, research shows I’m more likely to be seriously ill.

I rang my local surgery to enquire if I was eligible; I was told I wasn’t.  I asked about a private prescription.  Someone was meant to contact me but no-one has. I decided to book a private flu vaccine, which was very easy on-line with Tesco (£9).  The supermarkets are the cheapest £8-£9.

In the meantime, I received an NHS text inviting me to a free seasonal flu vaccination because I am eligible!  I have booked on-line, Sunday in 2 weeks time.

I not eligible for a free pneumonia vaccine, my hubby is, 65+.  It costs around £27 for a private vaccine.  I don’t think I will bother.

Something to think about!
