The so-called "Paradise Papers" reveal how wealthy individuals and organisations use complex structures of trusts, foundations and shell companies to protect their cash from tax officials.

Among those identified as beneficiaries of the schemes in the first tranche of revelations are the Queen, Conservative Party donor Lord Ashcroft and Everton Football Club.

A seasonal scandal, but really nothing new on the horizon.
While the enquiry by the international team of journalist has been, at least it seems at a glance, to be thorough and well documented, it has only reaffirmed what was already know. There is an equal or bigger floating capital outside the control of nation states.
A capital that is truly global. Again nothing incredibly revealing but it nice to be further proven and broadcast.
I would make however two points.
1 - this is "Capital" like gold, money or equivalent that is only worth what people are prepared to do for it.
2- the real power is always where the capacity of compelling lies.
The few people that own the bulk of this wealth may think they are all powerful but in reality they do not have the chance of spend this wealth apart for accumulating more of the same.
It is one of their major weaknesses and one that will be their undoing.
