UK government programme biggest threat to our democracy

this is an interesting article and could effect here and other places on the net like frank zola, vox political and skwawkbox and many other sites out there

According to recently-unearthed documents, people who have participated in a demonstration, are members of a political campaign group, or who have fought the government’s cuts, can become a target of a government programme that monitors ‘extremism’.

But this is just the tip of the iceberg. And it’s more than just democracy at stake.

This 'rat on your neighbour' tactic sounds typical of the divide and conquer ideology. We have seen it before in European history (any historians on the site, please help me with some examples, which I currently cannot put my finger on).

It seeks to make individuals suspicious of their peers and therefore, presumably less likely to join together in resistance.

They cannot put everyone in prison though.
