Momentous Decision by the Supreme Court
This morning 11 Supreme Court Judges have unanimously ruled that the Prime Minister, and by implication this Tory government, acted unlawfully in advising the Queen to prorogue Parliament and that therefore the prorogation itself was unlawful.
They have also ruled that Parliament can resume sittings and fulfil its functions of holding the government to account as soon as practicably possible.
Consequently, the Speaker has announced that Parliament will resume and sit in session tomorrow morning at 11.30 am.
