Netflix really killing the TV licence?
The report states: “It is now believed that the ‘Netflix effect’ is leading viewers to abandon their BBC TV licences entirely.
“Streaming platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime Video or Now TV do not require any license.
“A basic Netflix subscription costs £5.99 a month (about £72 a year).”

Re: Netflix really killing the TV licence?
personally ive never liked the bbc charge and i think it should go onto the council tax bill
but with no increase on the council tax bill
this would be your mast charge so at least anyone could get it if they wanted it i find the bbc license a joke and an extortion racket at 154.00 a year and not shared between the providers of itv channel 4 and 5
and the years of bbc abusing its cash provided by the public and over the last few years your not getting attitude
i honestly think the bbc should be scrapped or made to fund themselves like the other channels therefore a mast charge would still be needed hence the reason it goes onto your council tax side of it with no increase

Re: Netflix really killing the TV licence?
I found this article “BBC and ITV team up to launch Netflix rival BritBox”. To create it own service.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-47383559
Two point here is this new service (BritBox) going to be financed on the BBC’s end by the TV license fee? "ITV has pledged to invest up to £65m in the joint venture over the next two years. The publicly funded BBC would not comment on whether it was putting a similar amount of money into the project."

And is this a back door into privatization of these two companies from this merger. In addition to this I was one of the customers to whom got stung in 2002, when ‘ITV digital’ went belly up and left me out of pocket, so I won’t be subscribing to this service..
