More than 80,000 people have signed up to a scheme that could see them receive up to £1,200 in free money from the Government, according to HMRC figures.

The Government's 'Help to Save' account was launched in September 2018, and is aimed at helping those on lower incomes build a 'rainy day' fund.

For every £1 deposited in the fund, the government tops it up by 50p.
