Thanks for the list KatiLB Very Happy . Also does anyone know what will happen to claimants at these JCP's, will they be offered a suitable choice of new JCP location or will it be the normal mess up with the DWP? pale

well I'd hope they would be given the choice of attending another JCP office ... but it'll probably be (as you say) another monumental c**k-up Mad

More:
http://www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/dan-carden/jobcentre-closures_b_17694912.html
Having to travel further and more complicated routes to access job centres will disproportionately affect the disabled and those with mental health issues or caring responsibilities. For some of the most vulnerable people this will mean finding another fiver per appointment for bus fares - quite literally taking the food out of people’s mouths. The result will be more sanctions, more hardship, and even fewer people finding a way into secure, well-paid jobs.

https://www.gov.uk/government/news/new-streamlined-jobcentre-plus-network-with-more-support-for-jobseekers
Today’s announcements include proposals for:

merging 78 smaller Jobcentre Plus offices in urban areas with larger ones nearby
co-locating around 50 Jobcentre Plus offices with local authorities or other community services to provide joined-up services for the local community with all services in one place
closing 27 back office buildings around the country and developing larger, more efficient processing sites including opening 5 new large service centres across the country in a phased approach starting in 2018
retaining over 700 existing offices
re-organising our corporate centre to make maximum use of 6 regional corporate hubs, including establishing a new office in central Manchester
The planned changes will be made in consultation with staff taking into account the impact on benefit claimants and DWP staff. The vast majority of staff will have the option to relocate or offered alternative roles.

87 Jobcentres over the next 7 months to close Empty Re: 87 Jobcentres over the next 7 months to close

Post by Tarquin Flotsam Wed Oct 11, 2017 4:10 pm

I was discussing this with my work roach just the other week. My previous JCP which I'd escaped from (mainly due to continual harrassment from them) is now merging with the one where I am now. The jobcentre I'm at now is much bigger, 4 floors including ground floor, and one thing I like is none of the desks are that close to each other so conversation with the roach is a little bit more private. My previous jobcentre had just the 2 floors and all desks were pretty much tight to each other.

Anyway, apparently ALL the staff from my previous are moving to my current jobcentre, not really something I'd wanted to hear. So I'll probably be seeing the likes of AssWipe very soon again... Mad

It's a difference of about 4 miles between the 2 jobcentres, so like it says in the Huffington Post, it'll be difficult for many claimants finding the extra cash for bus fares...

I suspect that more people might become eligible for postal signing, if the regulations for that still apply.

I think there could be a move toward electronic signing. I suspect that will be based upon compliance with providing evidence via the UC portal pale
