The average person may mistakenly believe that benefits fraud is a bigger issue than tax evasion.
Benefit fraud has become viewed as individuals taking what they have from others due to decades of brainwashing. Many view tax evasion as individuals keeping what they have. Prosecution of benefit fraud is easier for those who cannot "lawyer up" like tax evaders.

How on earth will the bank know if somebody has a joint claim and it goes into a different account? Also are the banks getting paid to do this?
