Evaluation of the Universal Credit system
Evaluation of the Universal Credit.
It's been nearly 10 x years since the start of the Universal Credit (UC) system 2013. So after nearly a decade of the Universal Credit, hopefully the bug's should be out of the system.
Therefore, I thought it's time for a discussion about the UC was due. A Health Check/ MOT test, if you like, of what the Reforms where set out to achieve, and what has actually happened in the last decade. The Tory Flagship of the Universal Credit, hopefully not like the Mary Rose or RMS Titanic .
According to the article

The Universal Credit started in October 2013, and due to be completed in 2017 ️🤨... Currently estimated to be fully completed by 2024...
The reforms aimed at reducing financial/administrative costs. Estimates may vary but IT projects at £500 million . Next 'encouraging people into work' ( and stick) just have to hear the horror storys of people working part time and claiming benefits. Getting caught out by ZHC or weekly payments, with the monthly allowance monitoring scale. Sometimes actually worse off for working due to this incompatibility. And going over there allowance level! So much for 'work always pays, and is seen to pay'
Next 'reduce fraud'🤨 There's plenty of story's of news stories of fraud commited via the DWP employees , and criminals targeting vulnerable Claimant's with loan's.

Then the 'errors' how many people have been left penniless due to mistakes from the JCP . No doubt its easier to blame the IT system, than human errors.
Have there been any happy endings with the UC
