Means-testing the state pension would go some way to redressing the huge intergenerational pension bill being passed down the generations ????

No not at all; everyone pays into it via there "National Insurance contributions", so come retirement everyone is entitled to a Pension by law.
BUT;
With falling birth rates and an Ageing population, there is a growing cash shortage to fund the Traditional retirement Pension, That is why the "Work place Pension scheme has been introduced" And everyone in work is now strongly advised to start there own Private Pension scheme, At the same time the Pension age is being increased, the end target being 70.

pension is one thing but diability allowance for pensioners is a different matter
and im going to upset the cart a little here
ive known someone buy a house on a pension and receiving dla as well, theyve done there house up and laid flags and also built walls and i could add more even has a dla car
ive also known someone still repairing vehicles and claiming both pension and dla
yet on other hand dont suffer benefit reviews like the rest of the population and im sorry these older end are abusing the system
reviews should be for everyone not cherry picked
