Ending benefit sanctions for all?
I was pleased to read that the British Psychological Society, along with eight other leading mental health organisations, have signed a consensus statement that ‘everyone living with a mental health condition should be supported to attain financial security’, and that ‘Neither conditions nor sanctions have been shown to work or to be safe for people with mental health difficulties, and as a result we believe they should be stopped’.

Neither conditions nor sanctions have been shown to work or to be safe for people with mental health difficulties
Which implies that they are safe for people without mental health difficulties. I think they are missing the point that sanctions can and do cause all victims of those sanctions to then suffer mental health problems. People who had no mental health problems prior to the sanction then suffer a deterioration in their mental health. That is what happens when someone is threatened with starvation, homelessness and ultimately death. Sure, they are hardest on those who already have mental health difficulties, but sanctions have been shown to be completely ineffective in getting anyone back into work and have been simply used as an excuse by the elites to justify their terrorism against the UK population.

I agree. There should be a broader campaign to support everyone towards financial security. The DWP used to be called Department of Health and Social Security. The name change was not just cosmetic but represented a fundamental shift away from health and social security.
