I am interested in how long people wait for a work capability assessment appointment and what reasons cause this to be delayed or postponed. Neutral

ESA claimed Sept 2014, WCA Dec 2015 with Maximus, Tribunal November 2016.  c.£3700 arrears paid before Christmas 2016! cheers

I am aware that Maximus get fined (by DWP) for delays so they try their best to see everyone within the timescale.

However, sometimes the delay is down to the claimant and I am interested in what type of claimant actions sometimes give rise to a postponement pirat

I think the reason for the delay in the example I have cited above was due to the backlogs and not due to any particular activity/actions by the individual.

In a report published last month, the National Audit Office said however that there was still a backlog of at least 280,000 ESA assessments at August 2015, and that Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (the Maximus subsidiary which undertakes assessments) was not on track to complete the expected number of assessments for 2015 and had missed assessment report quality targets since the start of the contract.
