DWP: Are you owed up to £20,000 after benefits blunder?
Am I affected?
The DWP says it will work out who is owed money and contact them pro-actively - with no need for you to contact the DWP yourself.
How will I be receive the payment?
Once people are contacted by the DWP and “relevant information gathered” they can expect to receive backdated payments within 12 weeks and will be given a freephone number to track their case.
When will that be?
More than 100,000 people are due to be paid in the 2018/19 financial year and 75,000 people are due to be paid in the 2019/20 financial year.

Also could these claimant's expect their "backdated payments" with any financial 'interest' that they would of gained had they had this money in there bank account like in the cases of PPI with the banks?

Good point El-dude!
I have never known interest being paid on benefit arrears. It may be possible if a claim can be pursued via the county court. The alternative, would be to claim a special payment due to maladministration.

DWP 'should be FORCED' to pay compensation to 180,000 victims of £1bn disability benefits scandal

EXCLUSIVE: Government guidance shows the Tories should compensate thousands who were underpaid ESA, Labour warns today
https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/politics/dwp-should-forced-pay-compensation-13494967....in a letter to Ms McVey, seen by the Mirror, Labour now argues the government's own guidance shows she should add compensation payments on top.
The guidance, issued by the Treasury, says public bodies that "have caused injustice or hardship" through "service failure" should consider "remedies".
These can include financial payments, the guidance adds, and should restore victims to the state they would be in "had things been done correctly".
Shadow Work and Pensions Secretary Margaret Greenwood and Shadow Disabilities Minister Marsha De Cordova warned the error could have caused "serious losses".
