Re: rocket stove
Spotted a post about this earlier this morning on another forum, after watching the videos on here, going to have a go at building one,
Remember G you had quite a post about this on the old UM forum some time back.
Had no facilitys to build anything back then, but now have, so I will give it a go.

Re: rocket stove
thankyou for remembering that i had a post about it on um
just remember these get hot and can burn the skin off your hands and fingers in seconds as ive done it often
a bit of advice if you build it out of steel it burns itself out in a short time hence why we use stainless steel for the vortex chamber and also within the firebox
the first video is different but the bottom chamber will destroy itself over time
we also use exhaust wrap around the vortex tube
this is the 3" rocket stove illustrated on the last video

Re: rocket stove
For people with children or pets or even senior folk (unsteady on their feet), obviously a good fireguard is essential when using any type of heating equipment. Stay safe

I understand your concern Caker. But I need a simple heat source with a item that can distill water over a long time of use. It needs to be running at low, economical, heat and low waste for 24 hours?

Re: rocket stove

Re: rocket stove
I need to find a long metal stove pipe, through the garage roof. That looks to be the hard part and believe me it is. I did find a huge stainless steel flue but it was too big to move and the scap yard would not cut it for me
I also have problem with the ash?
PS. I'm good with making my own charcoal. Tones of the stuff. Its an acquired art if you have the time and a local nature reserve, who sell the stuff after I heap and temper the wood, to a crisp. It is their ground and wood and I can take what I like. Beech is the best and if I can get a pile of cherry, even better.

This is the kind of stuff that can be both useful and able to expand the scope of the forum.
