There is also another more important fallacy at work here.
All modern states, through various forms of welfare, like pensions, maternity and sickness benefits etc, in addition to money provided inefficiently or indirectly to pay for wages, contractor works and similar things, constantly inject money (value of some sort at least) into the various strata of society.

Far from being as rational and logic as UBI would be, the system achieves some of the same effects, however conditional and imperfectly.

Restricting the amount of money injected, especially at the bottom, in society has disastrous effects (I believe the economists call them "multipliers") later on.
It destabilises the entire edifice and when external agencies, outside the state control, act on the structure, for instance the response to wars, shortages or mismanagement problems, ie a crisis of some sort, strike, the effect are disproportionately severe.

I suspect that, using a mild modern example,  Greece austerity measures compounded the country problems much more than the simple budget imbalance progressive redress, would ever done.
Perhaps an example of how an ideology, in this case neoliberalism, can successfully oppose self-preserving logic.
