I have recently been approached by homeless people asking for money for the night shelter (in 2 separate cities). The first I was able to have a conversation with and he told me the night shelter is £5.00. In the other city, the other homeless person asked for £1.00 for the night shelter.

Does anyone know what night shelters charge? I want to be informed about this as part of my general knowledge of homelessness. Thanks in anticipation.

How much they cost
Many are free but some cost between £2 and £5 per night.

There are a lot of Homeless here in Liverpool,
If given Cash it tends to be spent on Alcohol or Drugs,
So I Give hot Drinks and food when approached don't take a second to pop into the nearest takeaway.
Old clothing/quilts instead of taking to a charity shop, I give
to needy homeless.
The recent increase in Ex-Servicemen on the streets sickens me.

The poor soul who I met was pushing a bicycle with a couple of cushions in the front basket. I assumed these were his only possessions and that he used them to sit on whilst begging in the daytime. It was about 8pm and he did not smell of alcohol. When I said I had no change (true) he moved on to the next person and I don't think he had any luck with them. I feel guilty now and if I had a £1.00 at that time I should have given it. Other than that, I would probably just buy a sandwich / hot drink.
