The unemployment figures have been so deformed by successive government to be virtually meaningless.
Somewhere I read that applying methods used before the Thatcher years roughly 25 millions should be considered unemployed or underemployed.
In addition the introduction of zero hour contracts and multiple employments by one person, add a margin of doubt on the best attempt to make sense of how many are actually in work.
In truth the entire concept of "work" is rapidly loosing its meaning.
Contradictions in the figures provided by the DWP are just a reflection of the changing of any economy toward automation and globalisation.
