The DWP is to get the power to arrest claimants, search premises and seize evidence as well as being able to fine people where they do not have enough evidence to bring a criminal case for fraud.

Sadly, something all citizen and especially the more marginal in society, need to adapt to.
The world and this Country in particular, are following an anti-liberal trend and I do not see improvements on the horizon.
Historically, when the balance of power in the world economy shifts (with new classes of wealth producing people coming to the fore against the entrenched interests of pre-existing different strata in societies) there is a tightening of the power structures that benefit the old regime. Sometimes in the form of a classic reactionary strengthening of the power of the State, other times with the explosion of popularist/nationalistic ideologies, and most often a blending of the trends.
I believe we live in such a period and try to prepare (in all sense of the term, from campaigning to adapting) for the worsening is the only thing one can reasonably do as these trends last a couple of generations or even longer, taking up most of the life of those that live through them.
