JETS - is this more of the same?
https://www.mirror.co.uk/money/new-plan-help-jobseekers-unemployed-22792942James Andrews - The Mirror wrote:The Government is promising to help hundreds of thousands of jobseekers with a new employment programme, targeting those left without work because of the virus crisis.
Job Entry Targeted Support (JETS), backed by a £238 million investment, is available for people who have been out of work for three months or more.
A range of new services are on offer, including specialist advice on how to move into growing sectors, as well as CV and interview coaching, the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) said.
An additional 13,500 work coaches are being recruited to help deliver the programme - doubling the total number to 27,000 this financial year.
Secretary of State for Work and Pensions Therese Coffey said: "JETS will give recently unemployed people the helping hand they need to get back into work, boosting the prospects of more than a quarter of a million people across Britain."

It is a sub contract of the Work & Health programme.

Don't think it is mandatory.
The WHP JETS will provide light touch, personalised support for a maximum of 182 days.Elements to include:
• skills analysis including identifying transferable skills - help with support to consider different employment sectors/routes and ways of working, including home working,
• re-building confidence and self-efficacy in Post Covid-19 environment (including support for anxieties about working in a Covid-19 environment with a peer support network, potential access to mental health and wellbeing support),
• advice and guidance for those wishing to change sector (e.g. building on the sector-based “Step Into” guides Providers already use),
• job search support (including CV writing; application process, Interview techniques, including online interviewing).

I wonder how they could help with interview techniques; that is the area I have the most difficulty with.

Mock interviews can be very useful based on experience.
Found this, but not recommending.

Can anyone shed some more light on this? My work coach talked about this at my last appointment but managed to change subject quite quickly and it was brushed aside.
Just incase it gets brought up again, whats the deal? is it compulsory if you get referred?
I joined UC few months before covid, december 2019ish

A major part of the personalised support will be around Sector-based Work Programmes (SWAPS); supporting people to move between sectors, allowing them to find work in sectors where we see growth and increased vacancies. The Department for Work and Pensions has said SWAPs will be particularly relevant given the impact of Covid-19 has been felt to varying degrees across sectors in the UK.

Found this about Data sharing between the DWP & JET, while it is about 'Scotland provider guidance'. You could imaging it is the same for all of the UK...

First Appointment (Mandatory Referral individuals- mandated to attend and participate in first appointment)
25. The first appointment should take place on a one to one basis.
26. If an individual has been mandated by DWP to attend and participate in their first appointment with you, you must notify the individual of the arrangements for them to attend via the WHP JETS MAN APPT 1 letter, to enable their attendance. You must undertake this activity within two working days from your receipt of the referral from DWP to meet your CSSs.
27. It is always necessary to ensure that the timeframe between issuing the Mandatory Appointment Notification letter (WHP JETS MAN APPT 1) and the individual attending the appointment is reasonable. Where the letter is posted to the individual, the assumption is that they will have received the notification on the second working day after posting (not including Saturday, Sunday, Christmas Day, Good Friday or bank holidays). It is advisable to allow additional time for the individual to make any necessary arrangements to attend the appointment.

So, them sectors will naturally be then just as pre covid-19:Box packing, shelf stacking, Call centre's,Coffee shops and delivery jobs. All have one magnificent thing in common. Most, can't survive on the wages being paid. No wonder the UK economy is decimated more so than most others. Still, as long as good old dwp come up with these highly constructive "training schemes " all can sleep well in their beds as will always be able to 'make a living ,if we can still sign on as well.
