Should I apply?
Not sure whether to apply for a particular job.
So I saw a job that I like the look of and it could provide me with the type of experience that could help me into the next phase (different job I really want to do but currently lack the experience).
2 problems with the job though:
1) It is very part time and would pay me £430 gross per month.
2) It is c 40 miles from home, so travel costs would need to be factored in.
I am concerned that doing this job would leave me financially worse off.

Hi Caker,
I think it depends whether the experience and/or training is worth a temporary shortfull in your income.

Sorry, I've said no. I think "could" instead of "will" give you the experience required is too big an uncertainty for such a low wage and a long travel distance. That's just my opinion though. We don't know the ins and outs of the job and you won't either until you are doing it. Good luck if you decide to go for it

So I went ahead and applied for the job, just for a lark and to see what would happen.
I have not even received so much as an acknowledgement from the employer.

Very rude.
Seems to be standard recruitment behaviour theses days.
