Work Psychologists & Wellness Coaches

I go to see the work-roach yesterday, and was informed of a “Wellness to Work” session coming up. To help claimants with physical health conditions, to which I have. So they print off the flyer and see on it:

Wellness in Work
Do you have an ongoing physical health condition?
Are you looking for some support to help you move nearer to employment?
Come and talk to Wellness Coaches, our Work Psychologist, specialist training providers & voluntary organisations about how we can support you.

So has anyone been on one of these sessions ? Sounds like the HWP providers touting for a victims? Also the Work-Psychologist, for physical health problems. Do they think I am on the dole due to being ‘work shy’! Still I made sure it was ‘voluntary’ to attend from the roach   . Just wondering what help they can provide? As the problem in my case lies with the employer not giving me a chance, when there are plenty of able bodies to do the role. I was just wondering if my area is a trial location.  

This sounds like all those old schemes that we have seen before, in which job-seekers are blamed because recruiters don't choose them.

I would be inclined to ask the roach how a work psychologist is able to help with physical health problems. I am very interested in the answer to that one.

I notice there was no mention of 'Bullying and Harassment' from employers etc. Just look at the Rt-Hon Priti Patel MP, so much for leading by example. EX minister of the DWP.

Also I forgot to mention about ZHC, Hire & Fire laws, little employee rights, and a toxic work culture we have got in this country. I think it is going to take more than a 'cosy' chat with a counsellor, is really going to solve help people?

No thanks I can move nearer when the blind sods can see me. They phrase this shite purposely so people are forced to comply through fear of not looking for work in the deluded world of jc rules etc. I want to see the stats on the actual proof that what they suggest leads to success =£ and not having to claim poxy UC cos if it doesn't, it's just more of their idealism. I feel someone will FOI them soon on this latest farcical idea.

Wonder when roach shops will shut due to corona virus and how planks will administer benefits. Nice that banks are about to raise everyone's credit card limit. Unreal.

Anyone being offered this latest opportunity that Pintel has been offered be sure to ask roaches for a print out of the professional qualifications of these so called psychologists. I don't many will willingly accept that proposal and, if they are actually suffering with mental health its clear that none of these provider companies are equipped to help with such indepth issues. They can't even find decent paying permanent jobs... why. Cos their not their.

Let's see their qualifications and cross reference them with a NHS psych. Decline opportunitiy on the basis its not fit for purpose.

Cheers Caker. Just made me so mad having to read more of this ideological political crap. They just won't except that when somone has become mentally ill either depressive or anxiety it will and may take that person years to recover.

I speak from bitter experience in that depression contributed in a very destructive way to ruine what should have been the best year's of my life.

One piece of good news I heard today in the budget is, joke shop visits stopped, not sure just for covid 19 or the planks have woken up the fact their running a business like roach shop at a loss. Effectively not fit for purpose imo

This sounds like work of "The Nudge Unit" which older victims might remember tried to get in oon the work program.

Originally they were an official government department but when questions were asked about their sinister name and dubious intntions, they were quickly and quietly privatised and resurfaced as "The Behavioral Insights Team",.

You may be reassured, or otherwise to know that this organisation is now apparently "advising" the cabinet on the psychological impacts on society of the implementation of restrictions to counter the threats of corona virus.  It has been suggested that they are directly behind the relatively laid back response so far.  It has also been suggested, that the reason for the hesitancy was the widespread mistrust of politicians which may result in increased non compliance if restrictions are needed to be progressively tightened over time.  No mention I am aware on any opinion of any potential medical consequences of a softly softly approach.  And of course no mention of why we might mistrust them so much.

I was trying my best to relax and trust that in such a situation the govt , (any govt) would follow the best medical advice.  Following any such advice inevitably and ultimately restricted by financial consideration but I am not sure the as yet untested theories of these shrinks (?) should be having any critical influence.

This Nudge Unit sounded dodgy when we all first heard about them quite a few years ago.    Didn't we track their ideas back to some California guru?  It seems most political commentators are less so.  It will be interesting to see if anyone picks it up.
