Some people will be worked to death with nothing to look forward to.

It's hard enough trying to get a job once you're over 50 - where are all the jobs going to be for those over 70?

I know a GP who is still working at 85, but it is easy for people in knowledge based jobs. Working into old age should be a choice and not compulsory.

You wonder if Mr IDS, will still want the retirement age up to 75 yrs, if he was still serving in the Army? Not exactly a young person job is it!

Very true, and there are lots of other jobs that could not be done effectively by older people.

Well i work in security, sure as hell dont want to being doing this at 75, and what about scaffolders and roofers, work on a roof at 75, IDS is bloody screwed.

Maybe IDS could do a day being a scaffolder or with the emergency services. See how well he does with that, lead by example?

He is not clever enough for either of those 2 jobs.

Maybe they could create reality TV show where they get current over 70yr olds to do some physical occupations for a month. And the then one that survives wins the prize? It would be a good photo opportunity for my elected representative, to shake the winner hand.
