There appears to be various forms of group Jobclubs/interviews/sessions/daily attendance.

The key points:

1. The initial notification must specify how you are to participate in an interview,

Decision Makers’ Guide
Relevant notification
34835 The meaning of “relevant notification” in DMG 34834 is a notification to the claimant of when, where and how they are to participate in an interview1 but which is not a notification to participate in an employment programme, training scheme, the MWA scheme or any other prescribed scheme.

YOU CANNOT BE REQUIRED TO PARTICIPATE IN A GROUP INTERVIEW

2. Providing evidence of your job search

Section 1 of the Jobseekers Act 1995 (“the Act”) imposes the requirement that a claimant actively seeks work. Sections 7 of the Act defines the test:

“a person is actively seeking work if he takes in that week such steps as he can reasonably be expected to have to take in order to have the best prospects of securing employment”.

In other words, if asked, a claimant must show what he or she did that week to get work.

Not, that day.

DWP CAN NOT SPECIFY HOW YOU PRESENT YOUR JOBSEARCH OR THAT YOU PROVIDE YOUR JOBSEARCH EVIDENCE DAILY.  YOU CAN BE ASKED FOR YOUR LATEST RECORDS OR INFORMATION, BUT YOU CANNOT BE MANDATED TO RECORD YOUR ACTIVITIES DAILY OR TO SEEK WORK DAILY.

3. Daily attendance has to be reasonable as well as beneficial for the individual concerned to be lawful.

4. Requirement to attend a Group Information Session.

A direction must only be issued if you are unlikely to attend.
The activity must be specific, beneficial and tailored to your circumstances.

YOU CAN OBJECT TO ATTENDING A GROUP INFORMATION SESSION WITH GOOD REASON

NB: Group interviews and Group Information Sessions are 2 different activities.  There is no provision in law for people to attend group interviews,
