If you are on a very low income and the choice is between, basically, losing money or gaining money, ultimately you will choose the path of gaining money because that is how it works.

IDS clearly believes that everyone is a materialistic scumbag, just like him.

Basketball  What can I say what next will come out of IDS mouth  affraid. So the Tory's have gone after the single mothers' for long enough, and now it is the turn of the single males  Rolling Eyes. Maybe the single males and single mothers should get together, maybe he could create a dating website as successful as the UJM & Universal Credit... IDS thinks unmarried men are a problem 3228069604

from the huff post raticle~
“Cohabitation is a very different relationship from marriage,” he said. “It is inherently unstable.”

He went on: “The answer I think is because cohabitation suits one of the partners more than the other. Almost invariably it suits the man, because they have to make good on their commitment and when that commitment is facing them they then withdraw.”

as an 'unmarried' mother of three by (wait for it .....) TWO different dads Shocked  I can honestly say that cohabitation has worked wonders for me. If I had married my lads' biological father I would have been dead by now, as it is I got to start over.

As a single mum, I worked hard to support my two lads for years before getting involved with anyone at all! The next man I was in a relationship with (9yrs in total) almost cost me those same two lads when social services accused him of violence.

I lost my home, ended up in a homeless shelter, but I started again. This time as a single mum on benefits.

It took me another 4+yrs to meet my (now) partner. Another year to allow him to move in with me and my boys. I had our girly almost 4 yrs ago and wouldn't change things for the world ~ although if he ever asked me to marry him I'd say no Smile

................................

Cohabitation MAY suit one partner more than the other, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing lol

The State only "encourages" marriage so they can stick their oar in and charge people to get married and then charge them again when they get divorced.
