look for work in Colchester by calling Croydon jobcentre
Another example of Universal Credit lunacy:
I’m speaking with a young Universal Credit claimant who lives in Colchester BUT must carry out benefit compliance activities through Croydon jobcentre. Instructions for her work-related activities come from Croydon jobcentre. She must participate in work-focused “telephone appointments” with Croydon jobcentre from her flat in Colchester.

I am not surprised by this at all

It's always bugged me that they force claimants to ring them on an expensive 0345 number (45p per minute if not on a phone plan) at a time when the claimant might not have any money. They consistently and deliberately place obstacles in front of claimants and then blame the claimant for those obstacles (classic blame the victim scenario).
