You must use a Universal Credit journal

Post by Admin on Wed Sep 20, 2017 10:07 am

ive posted this here so we can discuss the recent foi request

http://respectfulbenefits.forumotion.com/t660-you-must-use-a-universal-credit-journal-to-provide-your-cv-or-jobsearch-record#2760

The above quote clearly suggests the coach and claimant should “agree” how the CV “should be provided” and therefore it is unclear how a coach could force a claimant to use the UC journal rather than claimants own smartphone or other digital device “screen” or as a “printed copy”.

The DWP response says “The coach does not need to retain a copy of the CV”, if sent via a UC journal then the DWP/coach would appear to always retain a copy, this again suggests a CV can be provided via a claimants own smartphone or other digital device “screen” or as a “printed copy”.

The reply also suggests a Work Coach and claimant can record on a CC that they agree for a CV to be provided as a “printed copy”, when one has been requested as “a work-related requirement”.

DWP considers that it is generally reasonable to require Universal Credit claimants to have an up to date CV and to make a public CV available.

Under the DPA the claimant has the right to protect their data and who sees that data. The use of the word "public" in this context needs to be questioned.

another refewrence

Please provide me with any recorded information held by the DWP, which states claimants must use the Universal Credit journal to record their work search or communicate with their work coach.

These sources state that claimants can use the Universal Credit journal to record their work search or other things they’ve done to improve their circumstances, and they can use the journal to communicate with, or interact with their work coach. However, none of them actually state claimants must use the Universal Credit journal to record their work search or communicate with their work coach.

refusing to use uc journal can you be sanctioned
