A disabled couple were sent shocking messages when they enquired about a room to rent in a shared house.

Maria Brindle, 25, and her partner Liam Bellis, 24, had asked the advertiser if he accepted tenants on benefits as they both have ill health.

But after asking why they claimed benefits, Kevin Parkes told them to ‘get a job and stop sucking the life out of the country’.

Maria has been unable to work due to severe back pain, while her boyfriend has Asperger’s syndrome, depression and anxiety.

What a vile landlord.

Would this come under an Internet Trolling offence?   He might even have to sell his house to pay the legal fee....

The abuse of people with disabilities is rife in this country and is a reflection on our society as a whole. The couple could claim disability discrimination against the landlord if they have proof that he rejected them purely based on their physical difficulties.

I suspect that the landlord would say he rejected these people as he only wants employed tenants. He seemed to have a bad attitude to people not employed

Another reason could be like the Landlords in Newham, only wanting employed people? . "Up to 13,000 landlords in just one London borough have been identified as failing to declare their rental income, prompting estimates that unpaid tax in the capital is costing the public purse nearly £200m."


Still say what you will about Social Housing, at least the Landperson's/Council's declare the income...
