The forum seems to have 2 lounges
......just that really. I did not know if this was an error
ps. Why is 'computers and the Internet' now a sub category?

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
I think JOBSEEKER HELP could be renamed CLAIMANT HELP. That way, ESA and PIP could stay in that section because it covers everyone regardless.
I agree that we could combine topics and have fewer.
I think 'benefit advice links' needs to go in 'jobseekers help'
I think 'computers and Internet' need to go in daily impact.
I think 'media news' needs to go into the main forum.
I think 'site info' needs to go in the main forum
That reduces the sections from 5 down to 3. Much tidier, I think
just added topic from pm

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
yes, that looks like a good arrangement.
I think the following could go into SITE HELP
PROGRAMMES, SCHEMES & COURSES FOR 25 YEAR PLUS
PROGRAMMES, SCHEMES & COURSES FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (18-24)
BENEFIT SANCTIONS, DWP DECISIONS & COMPLAINTS
Assistance with challenging sanctions, decisions, poor treatment by DWP officials and/or its contractors.
Since we help people with issues relating to schemes. In addition, challenging sanctions is not really a separate topic, so 'site help' is a good place for it.

I still think computers and the internet could go into 'daily impact' because people are on computers/internet daily and affected by anything to do with that, on a daily basis.

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
*SITE INFO
can remain seperate as really its none important as it only advises members some important stuff
the reason why i moved media to the top as its a more important info being posted on the site so best way was to stick it where its seen quickly
oh and it was me who started the convo off as i like a tidy forum not full of pages however i can do setup like the old um forum as i was playing with these settings last night
Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
All looking great
I meant to say that your suggestions for revisions look great HH. Much more streamlined and organised.

Hi Admin,
A separate section for Site Info is fine.
I agree a tidy up is required.
It is a new site, so it is essential we evaluate its effectiveness!
I think this site and UM are separate entities.

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
jobseeker help id like to keep as is more than change it to claiment help also due to what people type out when needing help
law and first tier tribunals as they are to do with law and legal stuff id prefer to keep them together hence the reason why they are in daily impact
otherwise daily impact will look thin
decided to separate the cooking and heating posts

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
I think we are nearly there
If I could just suggest a couple more tweaks:
assisted support with general DWP queries - needs to be ASSISTED SUPPORT WITH GENERAL DWP QUERIES because it is a main heading like the others (not a sub).
job seekers allowance 18-24 year olds - needs to be JOB SEEKERS ALLOWANCE 14-24 YEAR OLDS for the same reason as above.
Just one more thing (sorry). The text, which follows the 18-24 section, looks a little bit ageist. We are here to help every person regardless of age. We encourage respectful freedom of expression. The text looks as if it is warning youngers to 'respect us because we are older than them' . I would find that a bit patronising if I was a young person coming to this site for help. They might even be put off if they think we have pre-judged all young people as needing to be 'warned'.
I suggest something a bit friendlier:
"This section is for people aged 18-24 because the JSA regulations are different for this age group."
If there is disrespect, we can deal with it fairly, regardless of age, so I don't think we need to mention it on the front page.

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
suggest all you want as its for every member on these forums
as i said other day i like the feedback if things need a change its better to suggest it
I tend to prefer simple forums easy to navigate however if you dont agree how things are please state so
some things are better if edits or things are added
however things can be added as the site progresses
as goes for site so far it looks way better now however i did leave certain things separate to see if it looks better or worse

by the way its 16 - 24 year olds not 14 too 24 chuckle hadnt seen that mistake myself when i copied and pasted the info
Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
I did not spot that either. I had no idea that 16 year olds could claim anything, so I have learned that today.

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
I have noticed a tendency for people to post their queries / requests for help, within the Jobseeker help section. Nothing wrong with that at all. However, it does raise the question of ASSISTED SUPPORT..... section being redundant because there is very little in it (just 3 topics).
I wonder if there is scope for tidying the forum still further by eliminating this section altogether. It still leaves a forum for people to raise queries.
Just a thought.
Edit: looking much more full now I have transferred the queries into it. I will make sure all misplaced queries go into that section from now on

Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
One of the problems of the old forum was how difficult it was to retrieve information one may remember but not locate.
While search functions helped some solid structure in the organisation of the forum (and some discipline from the user/administration to place their entry in an appropriate section) would greatly help.
Perhaps a synopses of the structure of the forum at some point - where it could be adjourned- could also help.

admin was wanting to tidy up anyway to slim line it a bit however as admin realised it makes the forum seem sparse in doing so
the edit of the forums looks much better now and as i see it google and bing are taking note
as goes for the queries everyone posts them where they think they should go im as guilty as anyone admin and mods can easily make mistakes
brutus i have to admit here got no idea on this quote
Perhaps a synopses of the structure of the forum at some point
Re: The forum seems to have 2 lounges
Just so everyone knows now:
News goes in NEWS
queries go in ASSISTED SUPPORT.....
Anything found in the wrong place, will be tidied up and put in the right place (by me, the archivist, cataloguer, librarian and bottle washer ).
