Are Group Information Sessions mandatory?
Hi all,
It's been a bit since I've posted anything, does anyone know about the implications of not attending a GIS (group information session)? Can you be sanctioned for it?

Re: Are Group Information Sessions mandatory?
Have you seen this FOI?
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/123502/response/300482/attach/html/4/3b%20Group%20Information%20Sessions.pdf.html
The way I read it, GIS are voluntary unless notified via a JSD (assuming this wasn't). Can anyone confirm that?
If you're still unsure, maybe you could ring or e-mail your roach - is it still the same one?

Thanks mate, I didn't get a JSD so that's why I'm not sure.

Group sessions in various forms are popular at present.

You don't have to attend unless you are issued with a Jobseeker's Direction and the direction is personalised and will help you find work. A group session is not a progamme/scheme. The letter is unlawful and if anyone is sanctioned, this would be an example of misfearance in public office. DWP officials are allowed to lie providing no harm is done!!

No Jobseeker's Direction so I think I'm good.
