gov.uk verify how to apply for it and also cookie and consent info
theres alot of discussion about verifying who you are digitally and also if its a mandatory thing to need to do so
so lets make a few things clear here
theres 2 sides to it online and in person
option 1 in person
https://www.whatdotheyknow.com/request/371073/response/905603/attach/3/4330.pdf?cookie_passthrough=1
They can then choose to verify their identity using GOV.UKVerify and are instructed that this will save them time, rather than coming in for an identity verification interview. If a claimant cannot, or does not wish to verify their identity with GOV.UKVerify they can choose to book an identity verification interview instead by choosing "I can't verify online".
option 2 online only
gov uk is run by subsidiarys who are also connected to third partys
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GOV.UK_Verify
These certified companies (also known as partner companies) are:
Barclays
CitizenSafe
Digidentity
Experian
Post Office
Royal Mail
SecureIdentity
The company you choose to verify your identity will ask you for some personal details. They’ll check those details against records held by mobile phone providers, credit agencies, HM Passport Office or the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA).
this is what might happen with gov.uk verify
by this time this becomes aparent
which means you have to go back to option 1
also users please note theres consent to be used via these sites
1, is via your own computers dwp must provide users with the cookie fact sheet

2, every site below has its own consent as you load the page that you have to agree to each one can be refused to be consented too

Barclays
CitizenSafe

3, the new gdpr consent is a whole new ball game that has to be given consent too

I cannot advise any user to refuse to sign up with gov uk verify
however what i can advise is use the meet in person system if your not happy with the online solution
it can be costly to any user to simple refuse to create a gov uk account
you could lose your home
you could lose your council tax benefit
you could lose your benefit
the reference is here very something else

no system has argued the point of the need for 2 created accounts to be created when one created account is all that was needed
so lets make a few things clear here

from this foi request

(6) When the unsuspecting public give their sensitive personal details, including:-
Ful names and address
Passport details
Driving Licence details
Mobile phone numbers
Email addresses
Bank card details
Bank account details
etc.
to UK Verify contractors who openly boast of retaining (without explicit consent)
Name & addresses
Passport numbers
Payment details
Education qualifications
Interests
Likes
Dislikes
Internet usage patterns
MAC address (global y unique "fingerprint" identification of mobile phones and devices,
Ipads, laptops, and desktop computers etc.)
IP addresses (work and home)
Social web site User/ID names
Internet Cookies data
why has HMG blatantly refused to protect the public's privacy by not insisting all personal details given by the unsuspecting public to data gathering private companies is DELETED, immediately after someone's personal identity is confirmed, and not retained by private companies and sold, or otherwise disclosed, to other companies anywhere in the world ???

Re: gov.uk verify how to apply for it and also cookie and consent info
The only time I tried the system, when a friend attempted to open a UC claim online, we had to give up. The verification system simply became unresponsive and we could do nothing to remedy the situation.
