Universal credit reduced to cost-cutting exercise by Treasury, say experts.

"Whilst the DWP had estimated the administration costs for the rollout of Universal Credit to be £2.2 billion, by August 2014 this estimate was revised to £12.8 billion over its "lifetime". At that date only 7,000 claimants were receiving UC. The estimated lifetime cost has since increased to £15.8 billion."

The total lifetime cost of the Universal Credit welfare reform programme has increased by nearly £3bn in the past three years to £15.8bn, according to figures from the government’s Major Projects Authority (MPA).

Perhaps a FOI request from all of us is required before the election?

What do you think~?

I agree that a FOI is a great idea. Send us a link when you have done yours. We can take your lead.
